New Swimming Pool - Construction on the new pool has finally begun! It will be completed by spring, in time for summer camp to enjoy the beautiful new pool. It will be 70 by 35 feet with a large step area to enter, a large shallow end for small children and families, and a fun deep end for older campers. The quality of the pool with be such an upgrade from the old pool that you will think you are at a resort. A special donation will also help us purchase nice pool side furniture for relaxation and fellowship. Be watching the web site for pictures as the construction progresses.

Retreat Cabins - We plan on breaking ground for the 2 retreat cabins this spring, also. The two cabins will house 16-20 people in comfortable bedrooms that will be flexible to arrange for married couples, families, youth groups, men’s and women’s retreats, and a meeting room. These will be located along the tree line east of the new dining hall. Common bathrooms with very nice space and private showers are easily accessable from the bedrooms. Also, a sink and vanity in each bedroom will make your stay even more comfortable. A fireplace will sit in the middle of the main room, separating a large meeting place and a coffee and snack bar. Each cabin will have a large deck around the back, facing the woods, providing for a peaceful place to meet or just relax.

New Camp Entrance - Once the new retreat cabins are built a new entry point into camp will bring you into the area of the cabins first, before turning back down toward Theimer Hall and the rest of camp. This is part of the master site plan, eventually including the new dining hall.

Finalizing of the Fundraising - It is the desire of the camp board to begin these projects as soon as possible. Therefore, although Phase 1 of the Master Site Plan includes our new dining hall, we will delay that until sufficient funds are raised. However, God has truly blessed us with enough for the pool, retreat cabins, and redesigned entry. If God provides us with an additional fund raising effort in the future, the dining hall will be the first priority.

how does 657 summer campers sound? That is the second highest total for summer camp in the past 20 years, and a 17% increase from 2007. Praise God for bringing us so many exciting and wonderful campers and families. The web site still has pictures from the summer. Take a look at all the smiling faces of staff and campers. Another highlight that was new this summer was PodCasting many of the campfire devotions. From our web site, www.lutherhoma.com, you can listen on your computer to these devotions, or you can download them to your MP3 player. Instructions are there for your aid.

Summer 2008 - Our summer schedule included the traditional weekly and weekend programs, but we added a few new wrinkles to the summer that proved to be very popular. Renformation, which is a program full of Renaissance and Reformation activities and learnings, was moved to a weekend. This proved to be a hit, as many more families could come and experience camp with each other. Serve Camps were for high school campers wanting to learn more about leadership and servanthood Christianity. Day Camps provided the communities around camp with camping opportunities, and great outreach to spread the good news of Jesus. We also added a second week of Momentum, which is a larger age range, providing families with more options for scheduling their busy summer plans, including Camp Lutherhoma.

The summer of 2008 was truly one of the best summers ever at Camp Lutherhoma. Thanks to all who helped make it so awesome, and thanks to God for His wonderful blessings!
